A not so daily record of the soundtrack to my life.

★ Young Legionnaire – Colossus

Young Legionnaire recently released their first song to the masses, via their facebook page. The track is titled “Colossus”, which I think is a pretty accurate description of the track itself. Gentle and melodic at the start, the sense of urgency builds up as the song moves forward until it is finally released in the form of precise chaos during the song’s final minute. Can’t wait to hear more from these guys.

Random Tuesdays! Vol. 3

So uhm, yeah. I was feeling a little under the weather yesterday, which is why I had absolutely no desire to do anything that required physical or mental effort whatsoever. So this comes a day late, but in case you have happened to stumble upon this page today feel free to bask in the fleeting glory that is: Random Tuesday

THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE – “HEY JOE”                         Genre: Classic Rock

“Hey Joe, where you goin’ with that gun in your hand?”

Watch it in FULL SCREEN.

“A visible illusion, oh, where it starts and ends. Love like a sunset.”

MEMORYHOUSE – “LATELY”                         Genre: Alternative

If this song sounds familiar it might be because it samples “Phone Call” by Jon Brion, which was used in the soundtrack for the film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”

“Lately, my heart’s been breaking.”

DEADMAU5 – “STROBE (RADIO EDIT)”                         Genre: Electronic

People I Like – Meytal Cohen

Being a drummer myself since the age of five, drums and percussion have always been my favorite elements of music, so you’ll soon understand why I have a soft spot in my heart for Meytal Cohen.

She’s probably best known for being a part of this amazing cover of the System of a Down song, “Toxicity” which has over 2 Million views on YouTube alone.

Sooo much skill.

Don’t be alarmed, I think I fell in love a little bit too! It’s normal :]

Go check her out already!

Meytal Cohen is on:

Peekaboo Theory

Peekaboo Theory are a six-piece band from Houston, Texas. They’re classified as “experimental indie rock” on their MySpace, but in reality it’s hard to pin any specific genre on these guys. There are so many different influences you can hear in their sound. They just make music, through whatever means necessary.

Their debut album, Sy~3nc3 & Pr( )gr@m5, is available now on iTunes

Check out their official website for a FREE download of their Red Stars EP

Definitely keep an eye on these guys.

That’s it for now, I’ve been feeling a little lethargic lately so I haven’t felt like posting as much, but thanks for reading! :) Hopefully I’ll stop being so lazy.

Kseniya Simonova / Apocalyptica / Metallica

Kseniya Simonova

I know this has probably been everywhere, but I just HAD to post it in case any of you haven’t seen this. Some amazing sand animation by Ukrainian artist Kseniya Simonova, with musical accompaniment. I don’t listen to nearly as much “traditional”, I guess you could say, music as I should; so I don’t know most of the songs used in this (still researching :P) but I can tell you that the music for the last 2 minutes of the video is from “Nothing Else Matters” by Apocalyptica. If that title looks familiar it’s because the song is a cello cover of “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica.

Awesome stuff. Don’t forget, you can click on any of the above links to check out more of that artist’s music! :)
